Muscular Dystrophy Association of NSW

Muscular Dystrophy Association of NSW (MDANSW) was formed in 1957 to meet the needs of people with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders. It is part of a national network of the Muscular Dystrophy Associations of Australia.

Objectives

The Association’s objectives are to:

  • Improve the quality of life for people with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders

  • Assist the families and carers of these people in their caring role and lifestyles

  • Increase knowledge of neuromuscular disorders in the community generally and among students and teachers in secondary and tertiary educational institutions, health professionals and government authorities

  • Generate increased support from the community by increasing awareness of neuromuscular disorders and the needs of affected people

  • Support research aimed at the prevention and treatment of neuromuscular disorders
